Paste an essay and see how human it reads. The score comes from sentences that are actually in the text, checked twice, with a range when the two reads disagree.

The free AI detector in short
Lorea's free AI detector for essays gives a 0–100 human-likeness score in about five seconds. Two independent reads label real sentences from the essay, and the score is calculated from those sentences plus measured style signals (sentence-length variation and stock phrases). When the reads disagree you see a range, and short texts are marked low-confidence. It is free with no sign-up, and it is a second opinion, not proof of who wrote the text.

How the check works
The model does not get to invent the number. The score is calculated after the quotes are verified.
Paste or upload
Drop in the essay, a PDF, or a Word file. Nothing is stored in an account. Short texts are marked low confidence, because a paragraph is not enough to judge.
Two independent reads
Each read labels real sentences from templated to specifically human. A quote that is not in the essay is discarded, the same way the essay grader drops comments it cannot find.
A score you can download
You get a human-likeness score out of 100, a range if the reads disagree, the sentences behind the score, and a report you can save as a PDF.
What the score is, and what it is not
A high human-likeness score means the sentences have the uneven rhythm, concrete detail and particular wording of a person writing. A low score means the prose is even, generic and full of stock transitions. Neither score proves authorship. Detectors that print a single percentage with no sentences attached are guessing in public.
Style counts sit beside the sentences and can move the score by at most 10 points: how much sentence length varies, and how often phrases such as “furthermore” or “it is important to note” actually appear. The report lists those phrases, so you can see them.
If the voice is the problem, the free AI humanizer for essays rewrites the same argument without adding sources. If the argument is the problem, the free essay grader scores thesis, evidence and structure. To actually learn the topic, upload the readings and generate practice questions or a summary in Lorea.
Frequently asked questions
How does the free AI detector for essays work?
Paste the essay. Two separate reads label exact sentences on a 1–6 scale, from templated to specifically human. Sentences that are not really in the essay are thrown out. The score is computed from the sentences that remain, plus measured style counts such as sentence-length variation and stock phrases. You get a human-likeness score, a range when the two reads disagree, and a downloadable report.
Is this AI essay detector free?
Yes. No sign-up and no account. Paste an essay, or upload a PDF or Word file, and run the check.
Can it prove a student used AI?
No. A person can write in a flat, even style, and a heavily edited AI draft can look human. The report says how confident the reading is, and it tells you when the text is too short to judge. Use it as a second look, not as proof of authorship.
What does the downloaded report include?
The verdict, the human-likeness score and range, the confidence, every sentence the score used with its reason, the measured signals, and the essay itself. Save it as a PDF from the print dialog.
What should I do after the check?
If the voice is stiff, the free AI humanizer rewrites the same argument in more natural wording without adding sources. If the essay is thin on knowledge, upload the readings to Lorea and turn them into a course, flashcards and practice questions.
